Eligibility Requirements to Adopt a Child from Kazakhstan

Children are available to adopt by families regardless of whether or not they have children. The Kazakh government does not mandate an age requirement for adoptive couples, but it is generally believed that adoptive parents should be at least 25 years of age. Singles and persons previously divorced are permitted and welcome to adopt and there is no length of marriage requirement. For single parents, you must be a U.S. citizen and for married couples, at least one spouse must be a U.S. citizen. Singles and couples who are approximately 50 years of age or older may be asked to adopt a slightly older child, usually over the age of 1 year. Both boys and girls are available for adoption. The children range in age from six months and older. Most children placed are approximately 6-10 months of age. The adoptive parents select the gender and age group of the child they are interested in adopting and our facilitators present you and us with the referral of a child. You will receive a picture of the child, in most cases a video, and a summary of the medical examination.
